Open mike - A micro ouvertOpen mike
There is something to be said for a politician who will take 2 hours of unscripted questions from anyone who takes the time to ask. At the first Open mike town hall in Outremont on Monday night, Michael Ignatieff, candidate Martin Cauchon and MP Marlene Jennings did just that with almost 300 people in the room and hundreds more online. Liberal Express
FINAL Update …
The Liberal Express Tour wrapped in Michael Ignatieff’s riding last weekend at the Protective Services BBQ where the Leader, joined by members of the Liberal Team and a crowd of constituents, thanked those who dedicate their lives to keeping us safe.

After 57 640 km, 13 Provinces and Territories, over 160 events and 115 ridings, the team said good bye to the bus on Saturday afternoon. Read Michael Ignatieff’s final blog post, Over 57 000 kilometres of memories for highlights from his summer.

Check out the for posts, video and photos from the tour.

In the House …
In the House this week, Liberal MPs continued to ask the Harper Conservatives tough questions about their spending habits$16 billion on stealth fighters, $13 billion on mega prisons, $20 billion over 5 years to corporate tax cuts, $130 million on partisan advertising, not to mention the cost of the G8/G20 photo op.

On Wednesday, the Liberal opposition day brought us yet another victory as Members of all Opposition parties stood up in support of the Liberal motion to reinstate the mandatory long form census. But as Michael Ignatieff said on Wednesday, the Prime Minister is “confusing stubbornness with Leadership” in his decision to ignore the motion, which represents the position of some 350 organizations in Canada, including the Bank of Canada.
