Windsor Tecumseh —

This evening, between 6:30 and 8pm EDT, it’s your turn at the microphone.

I’ll be taking your questions, live from Montreal, during the first Open mike town hall.

Every week this fall, I’ll be holding unscripted conversations with Canadians in communities across the country. You can join the discussion online, at It all starts tonight, at 6:30pm EDT, when I’ll kick things off with Martin Cauchon, our Liberal candidate in Outremont.

Visit the page now to RSVP and browse a list of upcoming Open mike events.

If you can’t make it tonight, you can send me your questions in advance. Tweet them to me @M_Ignatieff, or email them to We’ll try to get to as many as we can.

Log on and ask a question

This summer, on the Liberal Express, we heard from hard-working Canadians in every province and territory who are fed up with a government that doesn’t listen, that disrespects our democratic institutions, and that ignores the challenges our families face.

We heard from parents who want to pay their mortgage and credit card bills, and still help their kids get through college or university. We heard from seniors who want to know that the pensions they worked for – and the public healthcare system they helped to build – will be there for them when they retire. And we heard from young people who want to restore Canada’s leadership on the world stage.

Everywhere we went this summer, we heard the same thing: We want a fiscally responsible government that invests in our future, instead of borrowing billions of dollars to spend on mega-prisons, stealth fighters, G20 photo-ops, and tax breaks for the largest corporations.

And, for the record, I didn’t meet a single Canadian who thought it was a good idea to declare war on the census.

These are the priorities that we heard from Canadians this summer, and that we’ve brought back with us to Parliament Hill this fall.

Now it’s your turn. Log on tonight and ask me a question. I’ll bring your ideas back with me to the House of Commons – tomorrow, and every day thereafter.

Talk to you soon.
